Seated Bicycle Crunch

  • Begin sitting on the floor. Lift both legs up, and point your knees up to the ceiling. Sit back a little so your torso isn't straight up and down.
  • Then extend your right leg out as you cross your right elbow to your left knee. To make it more challenging, touch the outside of your elbow to the outside of your knee.
  • Then switch to the other side, extending your right leg and crossing your left elbow to your right knee. Move with control for a total of 30 times on each side.
  • Make this move more challenging by lowering your torso even further, and repeating for another set of 30 on each side. Just make sure to keep your deep abs pulling to your spine the entire time.

All in all, it seems the bicycle maneuver or bicycle crunch is one of the best all around abs exercise there is if not the best.

Abdominal Jumps - This exercise is more geared towards people in contact sports, such as boxing. It won't exactly build 6 pack abs, but it WILL make them much more resistant to force.
To do this, position your body as you do in the "Grab Ankles and Lift, like I described in my back exercises page. However instead of just pulling yourself up, you have to do pull and simultaneously push your stomach out so you come up into the air. Pushing up like this develops power in the stomach, and landing back on your stomach gets it used to force being put on it.

  1. Step 1: Grab a pair of dumbbells and hold above head with arms straight. Dumbbells should be directly above shoulders. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Step 2: Begin exercise by bending to the right side as far as you can. Do not twist upper body. Face forward and bend to the right side as far as you can and then raise back up to starting position.
  3. Step 3: Bend to opposite side and return to starting position. Repeat, alternating back and forth for each repetition.

Bruce Lee paid strict attention to side bends.
